There is no official model for the Ursarax from Forgeworld yet so I’m working on building some custom ones. I’m going for a darker theme for a bunch of conversions for the Mechanicum to represent them toying around with things the Imperium might not normally allow, but not yet joining Horus in his rebellion. This will give me the option to play on either side in the 30k events.
The models are built off of Vampire Counts Crypt Horrors
So after my game on Saturday, I decided that I need to model up a Farseer on a jetbike as that seems to be a nice option. I have a bunch of old jetbikes that need to be refurbished, so I took the bike and cut off the wings on the back. The body was taken from a guardian model (a female one at that), the head and right arm are from a Dire Avenger Exarch, the shield vein thing on the back is from the Wraithblades, and the wings on the bike are from the Crimson Hunter. Pretty happy with how it came out. If I were to do it again I would try and find another head that looks more farseerish as my conversion only looks alright.

I volunteered to put a model together for the Sternguard Deathwatch competition and charity event for the Badab Veterans group. Pretty pleased so far with the model, though I still need to drill out weapon barrels and do a base up.For the weapon I kit-bashed a combi-melta up from an infernus pistol, DC bolter and magazine from a storm bolter. Really happy with how it came out. In fact this has inspired me to put together a sternguard squad for my own Lamenters after I’m done.
After a late meeting this evening I finally had some time for some hobby work. I got a box of Death Company for my birthday and picked some jump packs from Chapter House Studio. I combined the two to make some VV to go with the army. I armed all with power weapons and the Sargent with a thunder hammer. I figure with their ability to assault out if deep strike I can use them to really mess a unit up.
I plan on basing them tomorrow and if weather permits, get them primed as well.
For my Birthday I got a little cash in addition to the other wonderful presents. With the price increases coming I decided to pick up another Storm Raven and Land Raider before they become prohibitively expensive. The Land Raider will be build as normal, but I would like to do something special with the Storm Raven. I’m not sure exactly what yet, maybe try and convert it to a Storm Eagle or just a simple weapon swap.
Also ordered some conversion bits from Chapter House Studios though they have not arrived yet. I am most excited about the jump packs which I am going to use with a Death Company kit to make some Vanguard Veterans. At this point I’m winding down the purchases for the army. I still would like to expand a few more options out, getting a couple Land Speeders, some shooty terminators, and getting up to 40 assault marines. Another Baal Predator and Vindicator wouldn’t be bad, but I have enough to keep me busy for a while and for some crazy reason I’m thinking about stripping and repainting my Eldar force as I’m really not very happy with the paint job or color scheme.
So I have made some more progress on my custom Mephiston. I really don’t like the correct miniature for this so I put some pieces together to make up a version for the Lamenters. Not sure on his fluff name or story yet, but I will be figuring something out as I’m on the finishing touches for him. The banner was a lot of fun to do, though it needs some more cleanup still.

The other model is my custom Mephiston. Not sure what his name or fluff is going to be yet, but played with him the other day and he was a blast to play. He’s made up out of bits from the command squad box, and sanguinary guard. Not pictured here is a nice banner that goes over his head.
